Determination of oxygen partial pressure in a carbon containing atmosphere

Mar 01,2026

Oxygen probe is a sensor based on the principle of zirconia solid electrolyte concentration cell, mainly used to measure the oxygen partial pressure in carbon containing atmosphere, and indirectly calculate the carbon potential in the furnace through Nernst formula. It is widely used in industrial fields such as metallurgy, heat treatment, and power. Its core structure is a platinum plated zirconia tube, which generates potential signals by using the difference in oxygen concentration between the inside and outside. It can be divided into two types: guide type and direct insertion type. The guide type is suitable for working conditions above 700 ℃ and requires gas introduction through a guide tube; The direct insertion type can be directly inserted into high-temperature environments ranging from 700 ℃ to 1400 ℃ for testing.
